Upon inspection I found that the light assembly had melted at the top and the hole that the plastic rivet (like they use on cars) hole in the side of the fridge had melted and now is about twice the size it originally was. I called Dometic and they said I would have to take it to the dealer to get the replacement light assembly which costs about $13 on Amazon with free shipping. Too bad they couldn't have sent me one in the name of customer satisfaction. Well to repair it I bought an oversize plastic push rivet thing, drilled the hole in the assembly and the side of the fridge and reinstalled with the oversize rivet. I replaced the original light bulb with a LED so it won't get so hot to melt it more. All set for now. If you have a Dometic refrigerator, at least the RM1350 4 door not sure about others, check the light to make sure it is not melting.
What year and model RV

No surprise there as the door handles are also a poor design.

You basically are turning on the light when outdoor temps are <50 Deg F to put an extra "cooling load" on the unit.

The 1350 does indeed have the low ambient control. (LAC)
Directly from page 7 of the user manual....

"The automatic Low Ambient Control (LAC) ensures troublefree
operation in low ambient temperatures (e.g below 50° F)."

Also explained on page 12 of the document GL1800Rider referenced which IS a RM1350 service manual.

X2. Looks like it's automatic on the 1350; the others have a switch the user has to turn on.
