Water heater operation.

I need some help understanding the operation of my water heater. The unit is a 12 gallon Suburban with DSI. If I have the DSI switch in the on position, does the unit switch automatically from electric to gas or vice versa? I only have one water heater switch on my interior control panel. My old TT was also a DSI unit but it had a gas switch and an electric switch. Some knowledge on this would be appreciated.

IF it has a 110v mode of operation, the switch will be outside in the water heater compartment.

So the switch outside is for electric operation and the switch on the interior panel is for gas?

Correct

if your using the electric heat you can turn on the gas for faster recovery just remember to turn off the electric heat if your draining the water heater
