OK, got it, lbrjet. I'm accustomed to seeing members 'quote' a referenced post so all readers will understand to whom their comments are addressed.
Thanks.

Tomorrow afternoon, I'll send a continuation to our PM conversation - but about coax connections, etc., in your camper, not about contracts, fees, etc.

Only need one cable to main genie and can run i believe at least four wireless clients. We can record 5 shows and watch 1. As stated earlier the dish is pretty easy to set up with some practice. As far as local channels we call directv when we get settled and change the zipcode. All channels are hd that are available just like home.

I am thinking that from now on when I go camping I'm going to put up a sign up on how to set up a antenna, I might could make some extra money. It's easy to do once you learn. When I can't get a signal I go back and check everything out. I get a beer, DW has to have satellite, sometimes I think she had rather have satellite than me. Oh well time for another beer

What Satellite Provider to go with?
Some people switch from DISH to DIRECTV and vice versa every 2 years to take advantage of new account "bait".

I brought a satellite finder and I have never used it, it was about 75 bucks I think. First I get the tripod level, after which I nail the feet of tripod to the ground, tripod has fell over. Then I hook the cable up from dish to camper. I got my dish from satpro.tv. I think that's the site, I just google satellite kits and it came up. After you get the antenna set up outside. If you are unsure about where the cable goes outside just run the antenna cable in the camper in the door or window. After the antenna cable is hooked up to the receiver and the receiver is plugged in, turn on receiver and wait for the receiver to find everything. The receiver will tell you it can't a signal. I then open up the menu on the receiver and I find the zip code bar and I enter the zip code where I'm at, I hit enter and the receiver shows me the tilt, elevation and azimuth. I write that down and go outside and set the antenna. You don't have to use a phone just set your antenna up close to a window and you can hear the beats when you start getting close. I use my phone to find the azimuth(compass setting). I look for a spot at that azimuth, a tree or something and then I rotate my dish until I line it up. When you get close you will start to hear the beats, then you turn the antenna real slow. If you don't get the signal right away just set down and think about it, I have a beer and then I check all my settings out again. The more times you set it up the better you will get. Try it at home after you get a kit. If after you set it up in your camper and then install the receiver back in your house the receiver will find everything, all you have to do is have a beer or whatever. The first time I set up the satellite I was a little worried and then I got a little frustrated when things didn't work just right, the beer kinda keeps me calm. I hope this helps. I posted some pictures of my antenna on another thread, I fixed my tripod so I could make the dish level, you can buy a real nice tripod but it costs more than I want to pay

You don't need to spend money for satellite finders, there are two excellent apps for your phone that work better.
DISH for my RV and Dish align
When my dome is blocked and I have to setup my dish on the tripod, I find it's easy with these apps.

Yes, easy to work with but I would get the Pathfinder 2 i think is the one that will receive both satellites east or west because you don't always have the clear view of the southwest ski you can always go to the other one. Ive been with them for almost 2 years and although we argue over price they always come through with what I am comfortable with.

Direct TV now has HD, but you need the Traveler Satellite Dish not the dome version.

We have Direct tv and like it just not the price. I set up a satellite dish, takes about 20 minutes to get the signal. I have had Dish and a Tailgater and it worked great, a little slow sometimes finding more channels, going from one channel to another but only a few seconds
