WiFiRanger Sky 3 from Forest River

Well this was a nice surprise! Had no idea that our new Roo 23IKSS was going to come with a wifi range extender/booster for using public wifi at campgrounds. Apparently, many 2018 Forest River RVs will come with this installed from factory.

On our first outing this weekend with our 21FBRS, I connected mine to the campground’s WiFi very easily and it works great! Both inside the camper and next to it.

I’d recommend changing the default password as it isn’t difficult for someone to guess.

Enjoy!

So this does actually work? Just picked up a new Fifth Wheel and next weekend taking it out for the first time and wanted to try it out. I hope it works well.

It really does work.

A reminder - turn it off when not needed. Otherwise, your phone will connect to it and not use its own cellular service for data. We left the campground on Sunday, and I didn’t know why I couldn’t get WAZE to work on my phone. I was connected to my trailer, and it wasn’t connected to the campground anymore. I had to turn WiFi off on the phone. Either that, or stop, go in the trailer, and turn it off.

Enjoy...

Yes, it was a nice surprise to find on my '18 2706ws. However, wasn't too happy with it on the first trip... the device kept disconnecting or resetting. Could have been the park's WiFi signal which seemed kinda weak, but we'll try again soon. Hoping for much better performance.

Does anyone know if the WI fi extender is installed on all 2018 Forest River RVs? I just picked up a new 2018 class C Forester, 3011DS, and cannot find any info about this. I must be old school because I would rather have a pile of info papers instead of a bunch of videos that are about models I don't own.

I did read that all 2018 Forest River models will have the Sky3 installed.

My 2018 Rockwood 2906w has it installed. The only info that i received was a single page describing it. The switch to turn it on was not as it was described in the info. But there is a lable just under the control panel with a barcode for more info.

We just picked up our 2018 Forest River MicroLite 25FKS and it does NOT have the WiFi Range extender. I'm disappointed. We'd purchased it last fall, and at the local RV show I asked the Forest River rep if all the 2018's had it and he said yes, but ours doesn't. Bummer. I wonder if I can get one thru Forest River.

Our 2018 Geo Pro G16BH shipped with a WiFi Ranger. Didn’t know I needed one until I started using it. We connected directly to park WiFi on one trip and it was painfully slow, videos wouldn’t load, etc. We accessed the same network through the WiFi Ranger and had no issues streaming videos.

Another park offered WiFi, each device charged with a separate access codes. With permission we had multiple devices accessing WiFi through the Ranger with one paid code.

I changed the name of the Ranger’s default WiFi name and password as it gives away your credentials if someone is familiar with these. You can also turn on / off a guest account and create a unique password for that too.

On my 2906ws, the switch to turn it on is directly above the WiFiRanger label. It's one of the smaller black switches on the bottom row without a label above it. On mine, its the center switch.

Nobody at the dealer knew where it was either.

Well, we turned ours off and have not used it in over a month. My personal opinion is its an over priced piece of *rap. Ill not use it any longer. We upgraded our cell service to unlimited vz. Have not looked back. If i could go back in time, id ask them to remove it. It has a very difficult time staying connected. It keeps resetting it. And when it did stay connected, it was slower than a direct connection. We do a lot of streaming as i run an Internet business. My phones hotspot “never” resets or bogs down. Wifi ranger is over sold “residential grade” garbage if you need to actually rely on it. 1 star in my book. Ok, im getting slightly ranty about this, my apologies. Just my experience with it.

The switch on my 2104S is right above the audio panel/DVD player. It's a small black switch all by itself with a sticker to identify its purpose. You might be missing the decal.

Once I figured out how to set it up it worked like a champ with my Roku TV. The trick with Roku is to use a laptop or phone at every new location to scan for WiFi signals using the WifiRanger setup page (I keep it bookmarked). Once the WifiRanger is logged onto that signal you can log your other devices onto it. I was able to stream Amazon Prime on a signal my phone could barely pick up on its own.
Now I just need to pick out a decent cell phone booster and I'll be set! I know what's next..."but that's not camping!" Understood, but we don't always use our trailer just to bond with nature, although that is what I prefer.

Not having luck with mine (came with our 21DS). Worked sporadically at one KOA, not at all at others, even with strong wifi networks. WiFiRanger Tech support was pathetic. Noticed a ton of negative reviews for Ranger products on Amazon.

Ranger 4 is now being installed in 2019 models. Like Stormer, I have upgraded to unlimited VZ. I think the Wifi might be useful in poor cell reception areas where you may still get Wifi from a campground or something. Speed will all depend on number of users on a particular hotspot, and what speed they subscribe to.

The new 2019s have WiFi Ranger Sky 4 LTE ready. It has an add-on card to connect to the cell network( it supposedly works with all the major networks, all you need is the right SIM card). My switch is located right on the main panel with all the others.
This gives you both cell and wifi capability

I have a 2019 Cedar Creek 29. Am I to understand that the Wifi ranger is standard on Forest River products? I have not seen any stickers or switches relating to this.

I only have a list of 2019 changes for the Geo Pro, Mini Light, Roo, Ultra Light TT, Ultra Light 5th Wheel, and Signature TT and Fifth Wheel. The new Ranger 4 is standard on all those models.
