Window A/C versus Roof A/C

Really, which is cheaper to run? We are thinking that our direct vent roof unit might be ridiculously expensive. We can also run it through ducted outlets.
I don't know the btus on it.
What would be the amount of btus to use in a 240 sf room?
Do you advice a window unit?

Your help greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Sylvia

Your profile indicates you 're in a perm site. Best bet may be a "split Pak" where a fan driven cooling, 2' bar is mounted inside wall. Outside mount compressor etc and join the two via wire and tubing. Outside looks like miniature a/c unit. Very efficient and reliable. I think made by Samsung and Sanyo. Saw one the other day in an old trailer. Rated for 1 Ton, plenty for your space. Requires 1 1/2" hole compared to 14" in roof and more in wall.

They are called "split" units. Saw them all over Asia in the early 90's. Don't know why it took so long to get them into the US.

They have heat pump ones that will heat as well.
