Winegard Rayzar Air Antenna
Does anyone here have this antenna installed? The Winegard people make it sound great:

I just wanted to hear from someone with firsthand experience with this unit before I consider purchase.

Looks cool, but for nearly 120 bucks with shipping, meh. My hatred of network TV is strong. Would rather have no TV than network TV. All the commercials, yech. I have become spoiled with no commercials by streaming shows on Amazon and Netflix, start and stop, and choose the show I want to watch. Got rid of cable TV at home over 3 years ago, one of my better life decisions.

I don't think they make that model anymore. The video is from 2014 and when you go to the Winegard website it isn't shown.

That may explain why I saw listings of it being sold on a website called "Vintage RV Supply", lol.

<sigh> So I guess it didn't work as intended as the reason it was discontinued?

These ''high tech" antennas seldom meet expectations. The best results are usually a combination of antenna height, being able to aim them, and of course proximity to transmitters without obstructions like mountains in between.
Where I am in NJ, I cannot get any NYC stations, too much bad topography. But I can get Philly, which is much farther from me, with a big yagi style antenna on the roof of my 2 story house, with amplifier and motor to turn it to precisely target transmitters. I don't use it anymore though due to my loathing of network TV.

Winegard Antenna
My experience with my MH King Jack is pure junk. I'm less than 15 miles away from the TV towers at home and get 10 stations less with the King Jack compared using a rabbit ear antenna. Out away from the metro area I get nothing, but usually can find something using anything other than the KJ. Wish my Forester came with the old bat wing that I had on my TT. I could always get something with that unless deep in the woods for miles and miles..

I replaced my batwing with this on my last RV ... mistake ... did not improve reception. The only benefit was that it was bi-directional.

Bought one 5years ago payed 50$ dollars, no hardware out of the box. Installed it using existing hardware and got twice the station’s, at home as well as on the road. Do a lot of boondocking in central Pa. up state N.Y. and North Carolina. Have dish, but sometimes don’t even hook it up. As in North Carolina we are in a pine forest and can’t get satellite reception, but the Ryazan air does work and better than your stock antenna. Just my 2 cents!?

I shared this with a sound engineer friend of mine and he explained that this Wineguard may actually make reception worse because of the ghosting effect of the signal bouncing off a structure from behind the antenna. The gull wing will actually give you a better signal if aimed properly.
I guess cranking my present antenna around is no big deal. Thanks for everyone's replies.
