Winntec Range Hood Bulb / LED Substitute

The bulb in my Winntec range hood in my 2012 VCross VFK27 blew, and I couldn't read the number. The hood label states a maximum of 10 watts, but I couldn't find a 10 watt bulb. I found a 7.5 watt bulb, but the light is too dim to be useful. A 922 bulb puts out great light, but is 12.5 watts and burned a hole in the plastic diffuser. I found the user's documentation and the dealer to be devoid of useful information.

I ordered an LED replacement, but it doesn't fit - the assembly is too wide for the fixture. Any ideas for conventional or LED replacements? Can I use a xenon-filled bulb, or do they run hot as do halogens?
