ZX700 surround sound trouble

I have a model ZX700 and everything is working "except" when I play a DVD I only get sound out of three speakers in the living room area. Two front speaks have no sound. Surround sounds works for TV and radio but not when a DVD is playing. I have tried all the recommended setting etc but can not get all the speakers to be on when playing a DVD. Any help???

Have that wonderful high-quality concertone unit replaced with another wonderful high-quality concertone unit.

It may not be the Concertone. Depends on the DVD. Most newer DVDs have surround soundtraks, but I have watched a few older movie soundtraks that only have 3 speaker sound on them.

Consider yourself lucky. We are on our third unit and still nothing works. Trying to get something done about that one. We have one speaker that works and all that comes out is static.

Probably wired wrong as mine was. Need to remove unit and test all speakers per wiring diagram on unit and separately test each speaker.

Not if if never worked right (which is what you imply in your posts above).

Please do not assume everything is wired properly. There are multiple threads and posts regarding the wiring not being correct and this will prevent ANY system from working correctly.

The wiring diagram is a label right on the unit so when you remove it it will be right there for reference.

You have opened a thread that's sat stagnant since March.....

You say you are on your 3rd unit but you don't say if each unit
exhibited the same symptoms. Did any of the units work all
the speakers???

If you only have one working speaker you need to check all
wiring at the rear of the unit as others have suggested.
I suggest unhooking them all and starting fresh.

You can easily find each speaker wire simply by taking an AA or AAA
battery and rubbing each pair of speaker wires on the ends of the battery.
The speaker that pair goes to will make a scratching or popping
noise. Take masking tape and tag each wire as to location.
Once you have all speakers labeled it's easy to reconnect them.
Pay attention to polarity. Hook each speaker wire with a black
trace to the corresponding neg side of the Concertone wire.
You can use small blue wire nuts to reconnect them.

I know some will say get crimp on fittings but not everyone has
them or the tool to crimp with. A box of small blue wire nuts
from Home Depot or Lowes is not so expensive and they will do
the job on speaker wires very nicely.
Do NOT simply twist wires together and tape.
This -might- work as a temporary test but wire nuts are the way to go.

FR has #4 coming. Will see how long that one lasts. Why should I have to repair something that I paid for and assumed in good faith that it would work as intended?

Well, let us know how the replacement goes. It certainly sounded as though the wiring was not correct.

Who is installing the unit when it arrives? You or the dealer?
