2015 Florida Campground Suggestions

Just booked Fort Wilderness for the first 2 weeks of January 2015. Looking for another campground to spend another 6 weeks. Can anyone suggest a clean, friendly and reasonable place to stay in Central Florida.

It depends on what kind of experience you are looking for. There are several state parks in what I would call "real" Florida in the central part of the state. Lake Louisa, Highlands Hammock, Paynes Prairie, Lake Kissimmee. And of course River Ranch. But if you're looking for touristy Florida, I'm not much help.

Florida SP's are sooooo popular...really no other state on the east coast that can give you beautiful beaches and springs for summer fun and warm retreats for long winter months...they have a gold mine and everybody apparently wants some of it

We are in Gold Head State Park. My wife is a volunteer so our site is for nada. Park is clean and nice. Great restrooms and showers cleaned daily. Closest town is Keystone Heights 7 miles. If you want bigger you can go to Orange Park 38m, or Gainsville 32m.

We will be here thru Aug

The Great Outdoors RV Resort in Titusville is really nice! About an hour east of Orlando, numerous amenities, clean, friendly and well run.

If you're OK with RV parks- a Thousand Trails zone membership should pay for itself in 2-weeks in/1-week out stays at the Thousand Trails park in Clermont.

If you like rustic, try Lake Eaton C.G. in the Ocala N.F. We were there for 10 days in February and it was never more than half full. The nearby Lake Eaton trail and Eaton Sink Trail are both worth walking.
