2016 Cherry Blossoms in Washington,DC

Winterized motorhome unfortunately so I want to plan for next years first trip. Thinking about heading down for the Cherry Blosssom Festival. Looking for any suggestions on timing ,campgrounds, must see events and locations, and who I need to contact (congressmen, senators) to get on tours. Also what to avoid. Thanks

Cherry Hill Park in College Park MD. City bus comes right to the campground takes you to the subway. They have all the info you could want about visiting DC

Thanks will check out Cherry Hill Park. And no worries about me driving thru any metro area tried that 20 or so years ago in NYC at rush hour. Had to be rescued by a NYPD hero...never again

Stay at the Capital KOA it is a much nicer experience when in DC. Cherry Hill is awfull. It's in the crappiest neighborhood. Bus service was very unreliable. We took the tour bus and the driver left the bus and went home, waited forever for another driver.

Not a joke, worst DC trip ever. I will stick to the KOA for all my DC trips. Probably the worst camping trip and worst campground ever. Just because it's big doesn't make it great. The place was pretty empty and the few campers that were there right on top of each other. The pool was packed but it wasn't with campers it was the locals who get to use the facilities. The only time I ever didn't feel safe in a campground.

X2 on the safe part at Cherry Hill, we were to close to the highway. Next time we go I plan to stay at Andrews AFB, Ft Meade in nice too just a little far from DC

Capital KOA is awesome. Clean and the people are friendly and it's close and they will shuttle you into DC. Check them out. They also do a great Halloween Weekend .... big shindig..... Fun and family oriented.
