4Mile Creek State Park, new york

We are currently at 4 Mile Creek on the shores of Lake Ontario. We are here to see Niagara falls which is only 14 miles south of the campground.
nice campground. We arrived Saturday and are staying til Thursday. The campground is fairly large and level. The spaces have some width to them and can accommodate big rigs but there are no pull throughs, all sites are backins.
The first loop is in the open, though the sites closest to the lake have more trees. the other two loops feel a bit more secluded. There are 50 and 30 amps sites available. No water or sewer hookups but they have two dump stations.
The campsites have no pad, you are on grass. The bath houses are decent but my hubby complained the showers are small. The water temp is affected by flushing toilets. There is no swimming here but there is a pool at fort Niagara state park that is four miles away and a beach at another state park not far to the east. The price is low thirties and varies on electric hookup and water view. Reservations though Reserve America. There is a small one time out of state fee for non residents.
Camping at four mile gets you into other state parks like fort Niagara but does not get you into Niagara falls state park. We spent a wonderful day yesterday checking out the old fort at fort Niagara state park.
This year they have started a free trolley service that runs from fort Niagara to Niagara falls. We are going to try that out today. The trolley has free Wi-Fi and is air conditioned. There are 14 stops on its route of which several are attractions on the discovery pass.....
Will update the thread as the visit progresses.

Make a stop at the power station and take the self guided tour. Really interesting.

Four Mile Creek is a great campground, when we were there the staff was very friendly. Plan to go this year. Did you reserve through reserve America? I would very much like to be looking out on the water

I love Niagra Falls! I especially like the American side. You can walk down the path and have a different perspective every twenty feet or so. We went on Cave of the Winds, the boat ride, and drove down to see the whirlpool. We also went to the Canadian side, where you have a great view of the falls. It's a very special place!

We love that State Park, we live 20 minutes and go there all the time. Go see Fatima Shrine, they have a great religious gift shop. You can climb up the roof of the shrine, great view. Good restaurant right around the corner on route 18, Bandanas - then drive on 18 going towards Wilson and there are 2 more great places, Rays - keep driving into Wilson and the Wilson Boat House is the second good place to eat. Continue on 18 into Olcott, cute little amusement park and the Village Shoppes. Have Fun

We've camped at Four Mile Creek, NY, many times - we agree with all you said. It's a very convenient park, and nicely maintained. Thanks for the description.

4 mile creek follow up question

We will be there in September but will be traveling with a puppy in our 5'er. Is it possible to see Niagara Falls while having a dog with you on a leash?

Thanks, Ausstar
