Yep....June is open season when it comes to black flies and mosquitoes. In fact, the mosquitoes use Route 1 as a landing strip, if that gives you an idea of the size.
July and August will be the busier months in terms of traffic and amount of people, especially in and around Bar Harbor. Weekends are super crowded. The warmest weather will be end of July historically but also may bring morning fog that can linger.
End of September will bring the fall colors and Maine's landscape becomes spectacular, starting in the north and progressing south, peaking in mid-October. Nearly all CG's are closed by mid-October or at a minimum discontinue water at the sites.
The sights, the beauty of Maine, the food....there is so much to offer here. Plan away and have fun when you're here!
