Any good long term RV park near Fort Myers?

We're looking at hanging our hats for a few months in the Fort Myers area January 2012 to mid April 2012.

Anyone have some good suggested RV parks you'd call home for a few months at a reasonable rate?

We just got back from Fort Myers Beach and stayed at the Red Coconut. It's a bit more expensive than some parks off the island and the sites are tighter as well, but you're right on the beach, so i guess it depends on what your after. Overall, we loved the Red Coconut and would go back. Park employees were great and helpful and the campers were all great as well.

We enjoyed the KOA on Pine Island. Very friendly, a little remote. No beach nearby.

Just googled the site.........they aren't kidding it's right on the beach for RV units. Looks like the mobile home units are across the road.

I assume you just vacationed in the last few months? What were the temps like? Where did you do most of your swimming? Were your site locations right on the beach? Lots of sand in the RV as a result?

Just wondering.

The red coconut has 2 parts, one on the beach and one across the street. Both sides have mobile homes or some seasonal rv's that are there permanently. The beach side is nice however, if the wind kicks up a bit you may get the sand blowing up into your brakes and engine compartment, etc.
We were across the street, on the park side and not right on the beach. No sand issues there and you just have to walk across the street to go to the beach. There's a cross walk right in front of the park entrance, and cars must stop for pedestrians, so it's not a problem getting across.
The park is a bit more pricey and the sites are a bit tight, but it's location, location, location, your are on the main Fort Myers Beach strip, groceries, etc, are all mostly within walking distance. Don't know if you have ever been to Fort Myers Beach, but the traffic getting on and off the island can be backed up for miles, so yes, it's a bit tight and a bit more money but the location makes up for it.
We were there mid February 2011 to first part of March, just over 2 weeks, then we headed to the keys, then home. The weather was average 85 degrees and sunny except for one day of rain
Overall, we would go back to the red coconut for sure, hoping to go this coming winter again.

Last week we stayed for several days at The Groves in Ft. Myers. On John Morris Rd near the Tanger Outlet Mall. This is the closest park to Sanibel/Captiva without going on the islands. We have a dog so the park we wanted on the islands was out. This is primarily long-term/permanent but many transient sites. Very nice place. Take a look at their web site.

Two Years ago we stayed at a place called Up River RV Resort in North Ft Myers. Wouldn’t call it a resort compared to other places we have stayed but it was very quiet, clean & well kept.

Interestingly Google street view will take you right into the campground. We were able to stand right in front of our site several months before we even got there. The campground was about 20-25 mins outside of the hustle & bustle of Ft Myers.

This past Dec we tried to get into Red Coconut but were told any site that would hold our 5er was reserved out several years by returning snow birds.
