Any I-95 or I-26 closures because of flooding?

We're looking at heading down from Ontario Canada later this week, anytime after Wednesday October 12.

Our regular route is I-81 to I-66/US 17 to I-95 and South to Jacksonville and Tampa.

OR

Another route has us follow I-81 to I-77 to I-26 to I-95 and South to JAX and Tampa.

These are both about the same distance and time.

Biggest detour would be I-81 to I-77 to I-85 to I-75 thru Atlanta and South to Tampa.

Any portions of I-95 closed because of flooding from Hurricane Matthew?

Thanks to all.

I95 around Fayetteville, NC was completely flooded. Hopefully it will clear soon. All the rivers in the eastern part of the state are expected to crest Tuesday. Asquared posted a link on Road Closures I would keep an eye on that. Stay safe

The Weather Channel reported this morning that the flooding in Lumberton, NC would not receded until after Friday. They feel that I 95 will be closed until then.

Thanks for the replies and links.

My second identified route only takes us down I-95 through South Carolina South of I-26, Georgia and a short part of Florida, so all indications are there should be no interruptions. I'll check the links as we get closer to departure.

Hope everyone has better times ahead recovering from Matthew.

To all.......drive safe.

I live at exit 73, I-95. I-95 closed from exit 73 to exit 15 in Lumberton both directions. Secondary roads clogged. If possible, stay home or watch local news.

Based on some of the video I've seen on the local news here in Raleigh I wouldn't be surprised if it was longer. In a number of the videos you can see where the side of the roadway has been washed out. I would expect the road to remain closed after the water recedes and until they can repair the damage.

I think I would just stay away from I95 for a while. Have you considered I85 from Charlette, NC to Atlanta, GA. Then I285 around Atlanta to I675 to I75 to Tampa? Other than Atlanta with its traffic the roads are good. Atlanta traffic is manageable if you time your driving time away from work traffic.

I drove the I85, I285 portion of this route just last month. Hit the Atlanta area about 10:30 AM (on a Friday) and it wasn't terribly bad traffic.
