Anyone ever stay at Green Lakes SP near Syracuse NY?

Planning to take the camper to the Manlius/Fayetteville area in May and I wondered if anyone had any reviews or opinions on Green Lakes state park.

I have much family near there so I know the area well, but I haven't been to the park or campground in at least 15 years. The only thing I remember is that the water is always ICE COLD and the Golf Course is pretty decent.

Also, Any other campgrounds/parks very close by that are nice and/or have full hookups?

Thanks!

We like Green Lakes when we want to be close to Syracuse. Some of the sites are pretty close, and the electric sites go quick. The reservation window is nine months - so May is open now. Overall, its a pretty good campground, and it is really close to everything along routes 5 and 92.

Other than that their really isn't is much in that area for private campgrounds. The old Plainville KOA closed several years ago, and we haven't found anything other than Green Lakes in the Syr area. There are a couple public parks (one state, one county) on Oneida Lake. Never stayed at either one. Tried a couple times in the summer, but couldn't get a spot at the last minute.

I keep telling DW our "semi-retirement" job should be opening a private CG near I-81 around Syracuse. There really aren't any private CG's in the area.

Thanks. I am trying to stay within 10 minutes of Fayetteville/Manlius/Chittenango
so Lake Oneida is a bit far, but I do love that area too (Always went to Sylvan Beach as a kid)

I was just on the NY State Parks website, Green Lakes does have openings right now in May with electric sites on the 1st 2 weekends. Going to make a reservation today or tomorrow.

You may be on to something with a campground in Syracuse. Nothing really from Cortland to Lake Oneida except Green Lakes and i bet that doesn't draw the "full hookup" crowd.
