Atlanta GA southbound, I75 or bypass?

Each time we head south, my worst fear is passing thru Atlanta.
Last summer we towed thru town mid afternoon on a Friday.
YIKES. Bumper to bumper, 6 lanes (or was it 8?), 70 MPH and people cutting in
and trying to pass all over the place! At one point a car sped past
me on the left and then cut in so close I actually braced for impact!
I KNEW he was going to clip my front bumper. It was that close.

We're heading south on a Saturday. Probably be passing thru Atlanta
around noon.

Any suggestions.... Just stay on I75 or is a bypass any better?

Thanks, again!

I75 on a Saturday will be easy..M-F are hellacious!

My Dealer is in north Atlanta, when I travel from South GA w/camper to him for service, I always go on a Saturday due to light traffic...still have crazy drivers but lighter!

Bypass is not muh better than thru town. Better road thru town, shorter and Saturday will be some better. Have a safe trip.

I wouldn't bother taking the bypass, just go straight through. The stretch where the bypass enters is usually the worst part. I also always seem to get backed up South of Atlanta around Cypress Grove. Plan your time to hit Atlanta either early in the morning or 2-3 PM.

Hey we live north of Atlanta and drive south often. On Staurday..go thru town.. but go early! Stay in right lanes or you will get caught up in the I-85 bypass or HOV lanes. I don;t think there is anything goin on in town this weekend...so you may be safer to go thru town. Yes the west side is rough and not much better. Good luck! Have a sfae trip

We just traveled I-75 through Atlanta twice going and returning from Florida. Both times were at around 10AM during the work week. Quite honestly I didn't find it as bad as I expected. We simply kept up with the traffic and stayed in a middle lane. Easypeasy.
Then again I'm used to the traffic on the 401 in Toronto...18 lanes (me thinks) and known as the busiest highway in North Amerca.
Seriously...driving through Atlanta wasn't that bad.

I have my timing planned out so when I leave Dayton, OH, heading to FL, I leave at 1m towing or at 5:30 not towing. This way I miss all major traffic congestion, roll through Atlanta at night, and at Ft Myers Beach by noon.
