Baltimore Delays through 2021

the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel and I-895 will have lane closures starting November 27 due to “major construction.”

That's good to know for people that go that way. I prefer keeping East of that city!

I use 895 and the Harbor Tunnel twice every week, mainly to avoid the convoluted mess at the Fort McHenry Tunnel on 95. I hope they have plans to get traffic moving better through the toll plaza on 95 when they begin the work on the Harbor Tunnel. I really doubt it, though. I will probably just use 695 instead which will lengthen my trip by about 20-30 minutes, but it will save me hundreds/thousands of dollars in tolls over the next couple of years.

Good info, but it will most likely have little impact on the RV community as you can not travel though the tunnel ( legally) with RV propane tanks.

I am not looking forward to this as I have to go to Annapolis about once a month.

At least I don’t have to take that route to work or use it more often.

You are right, but I see RVs go through pretty often. I always watch to see what happens at the end of the tunnel and I have never seen an RV pulled over after going through—even when the police are sitting at the entrances and exits of the tunnels. I would never pull my RV through because I know I would be the first guy I ever saw get pulled over.

Just this past week the Dynamax forum convinced me that my next RV should be an all electric DX3 enabling me to use the tunnel instead of longer route of I-695 and Keys Bridge.

I stay away from that area like the plague! If there is a different way to go, why go through the Balt/Wash nightmare!

Westside 695 is no better with all the construction and crashes all day long. FSK bridge is usually better but the Curtis Creek drawbridge construction travel time may be compounded by this new wrinkle.

I gave up on 95 years ago. If I don’t take the Cape May Ferry, I drive to Wilmington and go down 1 and 13. Drops you on 95 at Emporia and avoids Washington, Baltimore and Richmond. The other plus is stopping at Stingrays for a barbecue sandwich

Watch out for the speed traps in Emporia.

We go through Emporia (both ways) every second or third weekend and there are always a couple of cars pulled over.
