Point taken!!

We were there in August and then wondered *why* we were there in August because it was so hot. We've done Fort Wilderness before but my wife had her pick of spots 4 months in advance back in 05. Loved their spots! Cement pads, level, with sewer and all. When we were there last Summer we had one of the resort bus drivers tell us that WDW is basically moribund from the second week in Jan to the 2nd or 3rd week in Feb. Sure, we'd miss out on the water park but so what to a degree...

I hope you have a great time and you've given me the heads up how far in advance to book there!!

David

Getting a FW reservation is not impossible, but from april through I want to say june even july you do need to plan in advance. We used to go the week of new years, but without any school aged kids in the group of families traveling lately, we shifted to leaving the weekend after new years for the fort. But even with us arriving the sunday after new years, we still needed to call nearly a year in advanced to get reservations. The last time we waited till April to call, all of the preferred sites where booked, so we booked the 4 sites in the full hookup area. The only reason I don't like those loops is the distance to the dog park, but otherwise the sites where fine for us.

If you want to stay near I95 near Savannah, there are Georgia State Parks

Ft. McAllister State Park Fort McAllister Historic Park | Georgia State Parks
Skidaway Island State Park Skidaway Island State Park | Georgia State Parks

and then Rivers End Campground out on Tybee Island
Home

This puts you near I95, Savannah, the beach and 1/2 to Orlando.

We were hoping that back in Sept we could book a week between the third week of Jan to the second week of Feb to Fort Wilderness which we've been to before, only to find the park completely booked from Nov through March.

I have a slight personal issue with that and I hope I'm wrong - I am hoping that WDW tells me they are booked with people that are going to use the park and not just - at the risk of not wanting to insult anyone - a gaggle of folks just occupying the campground.

Thoughts?

The reservation system there is goofy but you can make it work, I now have a friend that books Disney trips so I just use him, no cost to you he paid thru Disney, I would be glad to share his name and number just PM me for it. Don't want to share this info outright incase it's frowned on for advertising without the proper authority.

dblr, as long as you aren't getting kickbacks, feel free to share it.

Heck, I might want it- we haven't decided on summer plans yet.

We are at Disney now over the holidays and ran into him while here. I think if anyone uses him they will be very satisfied.
