Best of 2 routes to Goshen
We are traveling from Atlanta area to the Rally. Have 2 options, route 65 north or over to 75 north up. Anyone familiar with the road construction and quality; comments welcome. Mileage for us is only a 25 mile difference in the total trip.
Thanks

I'd suggest going thru Nashville and Louisville over Knoxville and Cincinnati.
The question is whether you go I-69 to Ft. Wayne and turn northwest to Goshen?
Or do you go north of Indy on U.S. Hwy 31 to South Bend and go a little east to Goshen?

Just be prepared for possible delays in Nashville and Louisville due to road construction on I65. We came through Louisville last Monday on 65 from Indy and 64 to Lexington - horrible !
My kids from Atlanta came through Chattanooga and Nashville last week and advised major traffic delays in both cities.

Thanks. I 75 it is. No, not going rt 31 out of Indy. Lived up in Carmel for 2 years. That route has too many towns, lights, etc. Going east, then west.

If you go 75 north, take rt 30 west, north loop around ft Wayne to 33 north into Goshen, turn right on Monroe st. to fairgrounds. Going north through Dayton, stay in left lane through construction, going south stay in right lane.

Being from southern Indiana, I can throw in my two cents worth on the I-65 route. I-65 in Louisville is going to be a mess for then next couple of years. They are building a new bridge and I-65 traffic is terrible from about 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Construction has lanes shut down and backups go for miles sometimes.
Also, in Indiana on I-65 northbound (and maybe southbound too) they have one lane shut down from the 29 mm to the 50 mm for road work. I am not sure if this will be cleared up by the rally.
Right now, if you can avoid I-65 from Louisville to Seymour, Indiana, you will be better off.

Avoiding Cincy and Dayton during rush hours(3-6) is always advisable also. Weekend travel is not bad anytime, unless you are traveling after 10pm. There are lane, and complete, closures at times for construction. I travel Dayton to Atlanta all the time, never really have any problems if you avoid city rush hour traffic.

If you come up US31, there's a new bypass around the east side of Kokomo that completely avoids the slowdowns and traffic there. There's some construction on the south edge of South Bend, for about 1/2 mile leading up to US20, but it's not bad.
Coming east on US20, there's about a mile of construction between Highways 17 and 15 where they're adding lanes. Going east through the construction you're hugging a concrete barrier on your right. Taking US 33 or Highway 17 off of US20 avoids the construction.

You know, for the RV industry to be located in the middle of the U.S. (east and west), it sure is hard to get to from the south, southeast and southwest.
It's really out of the way for many people, and Northern Indiana roads are difficult.

That's because all the roads up there were buggy trails up until a couple years ago.
