We're around13 ft tall, so we're more comfortable with the MM tunnel

So, do we get on 264 E from 664, or go on 64 to 264?

You'll be fine in the HRBT too, eastbound clearance is 14'6" same as MMBT. Westbound is shorter at 13'6".

I'd be flexible here, traffic and accidents can cause one route to be much faster than the other...
Last time I was heading that way there was an accident in the MM tunnel, HRBT was over an hour faster to VB. There are signs as you get close to the decision point that show the estimated drive time to VB for each route.

Definitely this. If you go MM don't take 264 through Portsmouth or you'll have another tunnel to deal with. Downtown tunnel is max 13'6" and there is a toll.
