The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel is at the bottom of the DelMarVa peninsula. It take you into Norfolk Va.

The Baltimore Harbor Tunnel and the Fort Mc Henry tunnels allow only 10 lbs. max per tank. No other tanks are authorized period. Valves opened or closed don't matter. I think but not sure the Bay bridge and combination tunnel allows propane with the tanks closed.

We drive from Budd Lake NJ (NW corner of state) to Tampa Bay area. We come down 81 to Atlanta then onto 75S. No big cities to come thru.

Depends on which tunnel you're talking about.

Timing is everything. I travel around Baltimore between 10 & 2 pm to I66 to I81 and shoot right down to Tampa

It is a good route but does have some sections with some traffic lights but not really that bad, you avoid the Balt & D.C. mess plus a few fuel choices right before you get back on 95. Some folks do not like this way but it is my preferred route.
That's the way I go now from New England to Florida. I refuse to put up with the craziness around Baltimore and DC. Every time I go the DC route on 95 I end up sitting in traffic for an hour or more. 301 bypasses it all and is actually a relaxing ride. As dblr mentioned, there are some traffic lights but they're nowhere near as bad as doing 5 to 10mph from DC to Fredricksburg!

I'm in NJ. I prefer heading down the DelMarVa to the Bay Bridge Tunnel. Muddle through Norfolk and pick up 57 west to Emporia and 95. We leave right after Christmas and are on the road by 6am. Safe travels.
