Best way into Murphy, NC with Ford 450 Sunseeker 27'

Anyone have any ideas on easiest road into Murphy, NC. We have a 2017 Sunseeker Ford 450. Staying with friends, who live west of town off US 74/64 and they expressed concern about coming in from the east of town. I've looked at Google Earth and tried to find elevation maps but nothing is helping us decide if US 74 & 64 would be too steep. Thanks for your input.

When we go to Murphy from NE Florida (Jax), we take 10, 75, 285 around Atlanta, 75, 575, 515 into Blue Ridge. Just north of Blue Ridge, turn left to go to Mineral Bluff and pick up Spur 60. 60 Will take you to 74. From there, go right to go to downtown Murphy, left will take you to Tennessee. We have made this trip in our Silverado 1500 towing a 23' Puma with no problems. Made the trip many times but only one time towing the camper.

We will also be up there for the eclipse. We are camping at Crawfords Campground NW of Murphy.

We usually go through Atlanta to 575 to Blairsville then north on 129 to 74. That route is all 4 lane except the 12-15 miles from Blairsville. We've come in from the east on 74 from the Franklin area with a MH, a fiver and a TT. No tuff pulls along either route. Only problem I have is Atlanta traffic.

US 74 from Asheville is fine, 64 is tight. 74 is 4 lane except through Nantahalla National Forest. If you are coming in 74 from Chatanooga it is a pretty ride but it is rather curvey.

We have taken our 40' pusher past Murphy and on into Cherokee, NC via US-64 E/US-74 E without any issues. There really aren't any "steep grades" from Chattanooga to Murphy. And they have widened out some of those sharp curves. I don't think you'll have any issues whatsoever.

You said coming in from east of town. The trucker road is 74. We have pulled or 37' 5th wheel on this road with no problems. This is the road the 18 wheelers also use. This does go through the Natahala Gorge and passes by the Nantahala Outdoor Center where the whitewater rafting begins and ends. Pretty drive, 2 lane, but you should have no issues.

Maybe if you tell us where you are coming from we could give you more direct information..

We did Cherokee to Murphy last week on US 64/74 and didn't have a problem. Of course we were towing a 21' A-Frame camper, like what was said before it's mostly a two lane hwy but wide. The road is good and depending on the time of day (we traveled it around 6pm on 7/25) and the traffic was light. Side note, we stayed at Rivers Edge Mountain RV Resort west of Murphy, what a nice, spacious campground.
