There are a lot of National Forest CGs (Pisgah CG is great) if you want to go that route. For higher level ammenities, Bear Creek, Mama Gerties, Lakewood. These are all toward the NC / Ashville area. It depends on where you want to go in the Smokies. It's a big place.

Regarding getting your "moneys worth". If they still offer the "Engineers Tour", a behind the scenes tour of the mansion, it is well worth the cost. Be advised you will be doing a lot of steps... And cruising on the Blue Ridge Parkway is always enjoyable!

Thanks so much
It's at least a 10 minute drive from the front gate to the mansion. Don't think it's a walk you want to take and still tour the estate.

We will be driving a sedan also...btw, just curious, we are hesitant about towing our car with our 32' mh due to the size they both add up to over 45' in length. Our sedan gets avg of 42/mpg so taking driving it isn't an issue.
