Biltmore & Smoky

Plan to vist Biltmore & Smoky next June...when will be the best time to visit Biltmore (Ashville, NC)? We have been to Smoky (TN) a few times so we are familiar with area. Biltmore is new and we want to "get our money worth"...any suggestions?
Thanks in advance....

Biltmore is new? Thought it was built in 1895.

We were there this past April. Great weather, sunny cool nights, nice temps during the day without being sticky and buggy.
We stayed at Mama Gerties CG - highly recommend this place. Clean, friendly, reasonable. Its about 20 minutes east of Ashville.

You can get a 2 day pass for Biltmore at the CG office. Well worth it.
During our stay, Biltmore had the Downton Abbey costume collection on display. It really added a nice touch. Biltmore can get crowded, plan on the 2 days.
We'll go back, both to Biltmore and Mamma Gerties.

The management structure at the Biltmore promotes (activates/income/events) ALL Year! Pick your time and Go!The only thing good about MG Campground was the (2 day Pass) for the Biltmore! The Pass saves about (50%) of normal Price. It takes (2+ days) if your do both (Biltmore/Biltmore Farm)! Youroo!!

I second Mama Gertie's as a home base. Get a mountain top site. You won't regret it.

Oldcoot...Biltmore is new to us...someone at work told me to check this out since I am a fan of building architectural work. Never been to Biltmore even though we passed North Carolina several times...

One more question, if we stay @ Mama's...do we need to drive to the estate? Or can we walk there (less than 1 mile)?
Thanks so much

Just jerking your chain.

BTW, it is awesome. Plan on taking AT LEAST 2 days if not more. You won't be disappointed.

It's about a 20 minute drive. Easy to get to though.

There are a lot of National Forest CGs (Pisgah CG is great) if you want to go that route. For higher level ammenities, Bear Creek, Mama Gerties, Lakewood. These are all toward the NC / Ashville area. It depends on where you want to go in the Smokies. It's a big place.

Regarding getting your "moneys worth". If they still offer the "Engineers Tour", a behind the scenes tour of the mansion, it is well worth the cost. Be advised you will be doing a lot of steps... And cruising on the Blue Ridge Parkway is always enjoyable!

It's at least a 10 minute drive from the front gate to the mansion. Don't think it's a walk you want to take and still tour the estate.

We will be driving a sedan also...btw, just curious, we are hesitant about towing our car with our 32' mh due to the size they both add up to over 45' in length. Our sedan gets avg of 42/mpg so taking driving it isn't an issue.
