We recently spent some time in Boone, NC. Very pretty area. We were also in Cherokee and thought the Boone/Blowing Rock area was prettier although the National Park was nice as well. Wherever you go plan some time on the Parkway.

I live in Western NC. Are there any particular activities you'd like to include in your visit...fishing, hiking, mountain biking, rafting...? I'll try to give you some ideas.
