Bridges to Cape Cod: Which One?

Does anyone who tows a TT have a recommendation for which bridge (Sagamore or Bourne) to take to Rt. 6 on the Cape?

We usually take the Bourne Bridge and go around the rotary to head up north to Rt. 6. However, now that we are towing a TT, I'm thinking that heading up to the Sagamore Bridge to cross the canal may be the better route.

Thoughts?

At the present time the Bourne Bridge is under construction and down to one lane. Completion is scheduled for the end of May 2019. But this is Massachusetts and road projects never seem to finish by the proposed completion date.

The Sagamore Bridge should be your best bet seeing that you mentioned heading up the Cape on Rt. 6. Even though I now live in Georgia we maintain my Grandmother's old cottage in West Dennis for use by my brothers and my family.

We always take the sagamore. It's narrow, but we just take it real slow and have never had any problems.

I live in Sandwich and will check the traffic on Google Maps as I approach the bridges to make sure one or the other is not backed up. The Bourne Bridge work is completed and 2 lanes open on and off during the day. They are finishing up minor repairs during the overnight but think that is completed also.

Either bridge is fine for a TT as tractor trailers go over both all the time.

Where are you heading on the Cape?

I have a season pass.
The Bourne bridge had both lanes each way last Thursday thru Sunday so maybe construction is done.
I usually take the Bourne over and Sagamore back. No reason for it,

Both bridges are open and living in the area, i have taken a tt over both. the choice is your, never had a problem i just go straight down the middle just like the buses do have a good time on cape cod

Probably a few years away but I heard on the Boston news this morning
that they need to replace both bridges. Yikes!!!

we own a rental house on the cape, and take our trailer (including this weekend) frequently, always do the sagamore, because its more convenient to get on route 6.

Sweetwater Forest in Brewster. I was there several decades ago in a PUP. This time we're in a Roo!

Looks like we'll try the Sagamore unless Google tells us the Bourne is less crowded. I have to admit than I'm little nervous about the rotary after crossing the Bourne. We almost got taken out a few years ago by someone coming onto the rotary who never yielded as we were moving right to exit onto Sandwich Rd. Perhaps this time we'll be a bit more noticeable than we were in our MINI convertible!
