Burchfield Branch Campground, Central AL

I stayed for 5 days at this beautiful and well maintained Corps of Engineers Park between Tuscaloosa and Birmingham. It's located right below the Bankhead Dam on the Holt Lake impoundment of the Black Warrior River.

There are 36 campsites , all with water and electric. Approx. 10 of those sites are located right next to the river and are "hardscaped" with wooden decks and different "levels".

The remaining campgrounds are located in a valley or "holler". There is a meandering stream that cuts through them and the road criss crosses back and forth across the stream. These sights are heavily wooded and most are along the stream. A few contain "hardscaping as well.

Downside is, no cell service at all. I had to drive 5 miles just to be able to text. It's about 20 miles to nearest gas/grocery.

Sounds nice, I especially love the "no cell service" feature. I'm always looking for new excuses why I didn't answer the phone, get the message, etc. Call me overstimulated from work and school, etc.
