Campground for Tampa RV Show

Looking for a recommendation on a campground for a couple of nights so DW and I can attend the Tampa RV Show in January. Anything within 30 miles or so that doesn't double their normal rate just because of the show would work. (Capitalism is great but sometimes I just don't like to play...) We were going to boondock at the Fairgrounds but apparently they are full.

I don't think that Lazy days is ripping anyone off for 199.00. You get 3 day's full hook-up plus 3 days of meals. After paying at least 40.00 a night then eating for 3 days it really not a bad deal in my opinion.

I've stayed at Hillsborough SP, Lazy Days, and Happy Traveler and they were ok for a day or so. My favorite place in the area is Ft. Desoto but it is an hour away

Good Luck it's nuts around here for the RV show... DW and I live 7 miles away in Seffner. But parking is still crazy unless you're there when the gates open. See ya all there.

Is it possible to dry camp in the fairgrounds lot? Seem to remember a bunch of rigs in the parking lot.

Of course, keep in mind it's only about a 1-1/2 hour drive to the Tampa Fairgrounds from Orlando, so even Fort Wilderness is not out of the question.

Desoto in the winter? Good luck. I live here and have to book 6+ months in advance.

OK. Let's keep it simple 1 leave RV home. 2. Fly to tampa. 3 rent a vehicle of your choice. 4 enjoy your selves. Lol. I hate crowds.6

Know what you mean, but if you hate crowds, that is NOT the place to be! Last year we thought we'd go on Friday to avoid the crowds on the weekend. Got there just after noon and had to park in overflow parking!

I had forgotten that Lazy Days actually has a very nice RV park adjacent to their dealership. Inexpensive, too. Just a block off I-4 and close to the fairgrounds. Who knows - they may even have a shuttle to the show.

Just got back to TX from 10 days at Blueberry Hill RV Resort in Bushnell, FL. Was very nice, full hookups, good wifi and cable.
