Campground recommendations for Charlotte, NC

We are needing to go to Charlotte, NC for a week this month. Definitely driving our Class C down. Need some recommended CG help. We will be free in the evenings and want to check out Charlotte for a possible relocation city.

I'm only seeing a few cg's near town, south and west. Any help? I should add, we will be there two weeks before the race!

Charlotte

Check out Charlotte's Mecklenburg County arks and Recreation. They have a really nice, small campground at McDowell Nature Preserve. They have water and electric and a dump station. We stayed there to attend a concert at the Belk Theater downtown.

The is also the Tom Johnson campground that isn't that far from town and it is, of course, at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Unless you are a Nascar fanatic, the traffic around Tom Johnson's Campground is horrible.

Agreed if you are there during a race weekend...but if not, the place is like a ghost town
