Campgrounds near Columbus Zoo, OH

We are thinking of heading to the Columbus Zoo in April. Does anyone have campground suggestions around that area and are open in April?

Thanks,
RKE

Alum Creek state park is not that far from the zoo. We have stayed there. Some of there sites are completely secluded, although, there are no full hookups. Cross Creek Resort is across from state park and looked very nice. We drove through it, but never camped there.

Thank you Aquaman. I will take a look at those. How were the restrooms at the State Park?

I know we used them, but honestly can't remember. So probably typical state park expectations, but evidently they weren't horrible as that would have stuck in my mind. It has been a few years since we've been there.

Delaware State park, Alum Creek, Cross Creek, & if you don't mind a 30 min or so drive Buckeye Lake KOA on I-70 east of downtown Columbus..they all have web sites you can get particulars. They all are comfortable and pretty well kept.

An hour or so away (south east) is the most scenic (imo) state park -- Hocking Hills. Water falls, caves wonderful trails all easily accessible. It will break your concept ohio. I'm not familiar with the RV facilities. But even if you just make a day trip of it it will be worth while.

There is a terrific KOA just a few miles East of Columbus where we stayed a few years ago. Can't remember the precise location, but it is just south of I-70 and near a lake/state park. It is also located near the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) National Museum, which is one of the reasons we stayed there. Even if you're not into bikes, it is worth a visit just to see the history of some of my biggest heroes!!

I like cross creek rv park. Very nice staff, clean park, dog friendly and nice warm restrooms. We got a great deal for 2 night at the end of March. Since they won't have the pool open, we are staying for about half price. They accept Good Sam discount too. Close to Polaris and Easton for shopping and dining. We actually live close but still like to camp there for a fun weekend with our Columbus area friends.

Cross Creek is a very nice full hook up campground. Close to shopping, lots of good places to eat, and the Zoo. It is not cheap but well worth the cost.
