Camping on the Gulf, Destin

Just got back from a week at Camping on the Gulf in Destin, FL and can't wait to go again. Yes it's more expensive than some places, but we were literally 200' from the water. Didn't wear shoes all week; walked out of the trailer and onto the beach! Service was great, park was fully booked (and it's the "off season"), and everyone was friendly and well behaved. We were met at the gate and escorted to our site and got assistance backing in. If you like the beach this IS the place!

What was the name of the CG? I've thought about camping in that area.

Check out Top Sail SP about -10 miles E in Santa Rosa on 30A. We enjoy taking our bikes and riding down to the secluded beach. Great and large sites in the 100 series sites.

Just left there two weeks ago. I must concur, Destin is a great place to go Rv'ing if you love the water. It is totally beautiful. Want to go to the bahamas and see the grand water. Stop, go to destin. It is there.
Do not know where alphadog stayed, but suspect it may be Destin West RV resort. That is where we stayed. Besides a really nice Park, you also get to use all the amenities of the Ramada just across the street. 1 pool in the park, 5 across the street. We had a grand view of the bay and our own front lawn and garden from our Rv windows.
If you are wanting something a little cheaper but nice, try Henderson State Park. It too stays booked, so make reservations.

I have been wanting to go to Camping on the Gulf for years. One of these days I am going to get there. I want one of those ocean front sites... sit and watch the ocean. I am sure you have to come home and wash the salt off everything!

Yes, it's actually called "Camping on the Gulf" or "Camp Gulf." Top Sail is nice, we drove through while there to check it out. But there's something to be said for going all week barefoot; walk out of the trailer and onto the beach! Just take a good vacuum with you to get up all the sand you'll track inside...

As much as I like a good campground $169 plus tax a night is mind blowing.
That is a daily price for summer?

I spend $323 for 2 weeks in Mexico's Rocky Point with a beach front space.

I have never heard any campground in the US charging $169 per day.
I can see it if it was at the end of the Keys in Flordia.
They only vharge $120 at the very tip of of the Flordia Keys beach front full hookup.

LOL, not saying it's not pricy, just saying they are booked to capacity almost year round so somebody (me) is paying it and going back year after year. The condos in the area go for considerably more than that. I should clarify we did stay in one of the $120/night sites to get sewer, but the $169 sites were full; didn't see one stay empty a single night.

There are so many beautiful water front and near the beach RV resorts in Florida that $120 per night is staggering. They would have to bring me my Moet Chandon in our slide out bedroom for that one.
A gulf side view with private Tiki Hut, your own dock, frig , full bilateral landscaping, full time mgers, security and 8 miles from Key West at Bluewater Key was $85-94nightly for something out of a movie. Now every trip will be compared.
I do have the Destin area on my radar but so many other values come to mind.

Tell me where one is that's on the beach and 200 feet from the water (on the gulf side) and cheaper than Camping on the Gulf and gladly consider it. Fact is you can get close but not on the beach; that's why the higher cost.

That is such a beautiful undiscovered section of Florida . The closest we went was the private docks and Tiki Huts at Bluewater Keys at MM 15 where people have paid $600,000 for their pride of ownership and we get to enjoy it for $94 a day with full amenities.
If I recall an ad for Carabbelle Beach about an 1hr from Tallahassee on the gulf stretch of the pan handle. They are promoting rentals awaiting sales
Carrabelle Beach RVC Outdoor Destination: RV sites, cottages. Anyone been here?

We have some great attractions in the southeast with all the water.

Destin West RV RESORT.. Just across from the Ramada. Stay includes use of the Ramada facilities, to include 5 pools, one with a swim up to bar, weight and exercise room, bars, ie. Bay is on the rv park side. Walk across the street through the Ramada and you are on the Beach in the Gulf.

We stayed at Carrabelle Beach RV Park, 200 yards to a beautiful gulf beach, for $42.95/nite. Close to Apalachicola and St George Island.

We stay at Grayton Beach State Park on highway 30A next to Seaside a very nice place. State park $36.00 a night full hookup. Voted Best Beach (Grayton Beach small town) several years in a row. Walk to or bike to Beach. White sand all in your toes. They have a New section and a Old section. New section full hookups Old section Elec.and Water. This park is 15 miles to Camping on the Beach and Destin . 15 miles to Panama City in the middle.. Highway 98 connects the two places. Look it up on the map. They also have Cabins 2 bedrooms a large Kit. family room ,gas grill to cook all the fish you catch that day. ENJOY.
