Camping suggests, middle of S. Carolina

DW and I are going to spend a week or so in S.Carolina's mid section. We found a cute little SP site near Chester but we are looking for ideas in Sumter National Forest and/or as the DW calls it the west coast of S. Carolina.

We plan on circling up to Wallhalla next week.

Are reservations needw over the weekend this time of year?

Devils Fork State Park is in the northeast corner of the state. We camped there last spring and it's very nice. Right on Lake Jocassee with lots of waterfalls to see.

There are lots of state parks in the northwest corner of South Carolina. Check the SC State Parks web site for more information. You can call the park you are interested in to find out if they expect to book up. They certainly book up in the summer and fall on weekends.

Thanks, we were in Chester SP when i posted, a nice little park, 27 tight sites (not for big rigs). About six other rigs.

Last two days we have been in Lake Greenwood near Ninety Six (yes, that is the city name). Very nice park, many lakefront sites. About four other rigs and even three brave fishermen in a tent.

We plan to head west to Calhoun Falls for the weekend, then head north into the foothills...

Twin Lakes was great and we discovered our national park pass gets us 1/2 price at COE parks, too. $12 for a lake side site with a nice view of Clemson. Thanks.

Tonite I surprised the DW, we're "camping" in the Inn at Biltmore.
