Of course they can. It doesn't happen often. While camping at Navy Station Mayport, the staff went rig to rig and informed us that the were 65 MPH winds with heavy rain. They suggested pulling slides in. We complied and the storm came. Looking out the windshield, we couldn't 25 ft. 2 hrs later it was over.
While camping at Naval Air Station Key West, we were given evacuation orders due to a hurricane. I went to Homestead and camped at a KOA. Well that was where the hurricane, hit. again rain and wind. It would come in bands, as the lull would hit, I would take the puppies for their walk. That night the police came and said we should evacuate. As I was parked next to a building , I decided to stay. Two days later I went back to Key West to worse for wear.
