Charleston SC

We are vacationing in the Charleston SC area next June. Staying for a week. Leaving from northern West Virginia and stopping overnight half way.

Does anyone have some good recommendations for a campground in the Charleston area?

Thanks

X2! You may want to call them and see if they book that far in advance. If they do, book it!

If you cannot get into James Island the next best CG is Oak Plantation on highway 17 (savannah highway) about 20 minutes from downtown. We live in the area so PM me if you need additional information.

I would agree that KOA in Mt. Pleasant is a good option. They have greatly improved the grounds and it's really close to shopping, great restaurants and not far from downtown Charleston. We're going back in 3 weeks for a long weekend.

James Island is the Best if you can go during the Festival of Lights between Thanksgiving and New Years you will really enjoy it, however you had better book way in advance.

We are staying at Point South KOA right now for a week. It is a wooded setting, you would never know you are only half mile off I95. Very little noise. Less than 1 1/2 hour from Charleston. Hilton and Savanna closer. I could stay here for the winter if wife's family weren't in Tallahassee.

Made a reservation James Island County Park campground for the first week in June. She gave us site #65. They said it was a nice site. It across the road from the water park. Any comments on this site? We have a 35 ft travel trailer.

Just talked to James Island campground to change sites since they don't offer cable. Moved us to site #61 a pull through that is open. #65 was in a wooded area. They still had allot od site for the first week in June.
