Charleston SC in October

DW & I are heading to Charleston SC this October.

Any recommendations for a campground? Restaurants? Sights to see? We'll be there about 4-5 days.

Thanks!

Just be sure to spend a day in the Downtown District. Also tour the Battleship. So interesting. Campgrounds close by and if you Google they will show their options

The last time we RV'ed to Charleston we stayed at the Oak Plantation Campground. It has been a few years but it was a nice place that was an excellent jumping off point.

Doesn't miss seeing the CSS Hunley, the Civil War submarine, at the Warren Lasch Conservation Center.

Patriots Point has the retired aircraft carrier, the USS Yorktown, and other ships as well as aircraft in their museum.

The Magnolia Plantation is a worth while visit as well.

The old downtown district is also well worth the time.

We were there last year and also stayed at the Oak Plantation CG. Nice and big showers and nice pool. Also a place on James Island and is James Island county Park only 10 min from down town. We wwill be staying there this year in Dec. Don't forget to visit Market Squire and Citadel Military academy. Later RJD

Thanks everyone. Had originally thought to stay at James Island, but looked at the map and Oak Plantation is only a 10 minute drive from the relatives we are going to visit. Called this morning and reserved our dates!

James Island state park full hookups and pull thoughs. Just go downtown, many fine places to eat.

Just spent a few days on Johns Island and camped at the OAK PLANTATION CAMPGROUND. Very nice. Lot of the sites have cement platforms. Restraunts - I saw a recommendation on here for Rita's Seaside Grill - Shrimp&Grits. Great recommendation and I to recommend it too on Folly's Beach. A little pricy but on Mingo Point just outside the gate to Kiawah on Monday nights they do an outdoor buffet that includes smoked oysters they prepare on a huge outdoor grill. Not sure if they do that in October or not. Might check.
