Cherry Hill Park, Maryland

Has anyone stayed here? My family would like to check out Washington DC this upcoming April and need a place to stay. I came across this one. It looked good and was pretty close.

Does anyone have any other suggestions on where might be a nice place to go?

Thanks,

Vin.

Cherry Hill is a great park, very convenient to DC. There is a Metro bus stop inside the park which will take you to the train station for an easy ride into the museum area. They also have a daily presentation on how to use the bus and train system and sell metro passes. There is a nice snack bar, pool and store on-site.

Can't say much more than Sirsea. Wife and I stayed there in June of 2013 while visiting DC for a week. We found it to be a nice park although we didn't use any of the amenities like the pool, they are there. Only suggestion I would have would be to get a spot near the back of the park as some sections are somewhat close to the express way and you can hear the noise.

Check out the "DC by Night" tour. Bus picks up and returns at the CG. Great 4 hour tour of the monuments and very reasonable. We really enjoyed it.

F.R.O.G. had two trips there, one in March of 2012 and one in March of 2013. It is a great park, but the best feature is access to DC via the Metro. Highly recommend staying there if you are visiting Washington.

We've stayed there twice. You used to be able to ride the Metro all day for one cheap price from 9:30am until it shuts down around midnight. Not sure if you can still do that. If I recall, it takes about 40 min to get from the metro station near the campground to downtown. Be careful at night if you stay late. Some metro stations close earlier than others!!

The campground itself is a bit pricey, but there's nothing closer. Oh, and don't forget to go to the Air and Space Museum out by Dulles airport; it's fantastic.

Thanks Ependy,

Hmm. This is difficult. I like the shuttle form the KOA. That would be better than the Metro bus. But then again, the shuttle would have to deal with all the traffic as well. I think the Bus is to bring you to the subway station.

Vin.

Been there many times, will be back in October / November. Since we had been there I here they have expanded a new section? The metro is the only way to go in the city.

We stayed there in 06/2013... nice park and great place to stay to see DC. We chose to ride the shuttle bus that leaves the CG at 07:00 - it leaves you at the train station in DC. We packed a cold breakfast, got coffee at the station and ate outside by the fountains each day. The bus departs from the bus terminal at like 4:30 each day. The early ride in to DC was quicker than the metro, the return trip was significantly longer... but was convenient. Bought our tickets for the metro and for the grayline right there at the CG... Great supermarket up the road and anything else you might need was close by... would stay there again... we got a site close to the front that was a little tight but OK for our purpose.

Stayed there in 2012. ♡ It and would go back. FYI we drive to the metro station. Traffic wasn't bad and it was like a 10 min drive. We were there July 4th week also. Pool was great also. We stayed right across from it.
