Daytona Bike Week 2020 suggestions
Planning to hit Daytona for bike week in March 2020. The CG we stayed at in 2015 has had some really bad reviews since we were there (Thunder Gulch in Bunell.) New owner, bad water on site, etc. Anyone have any recent experiences there, or have any other CG suggestions in the area? Thanks.

How about Encore Superpark Daytona North right next door to Bruce Rossmeyer’s Harley Davidson.
Everything you’ll need within walking distance.

I wanted to go to Daytona for years, but could not make myself go to a place where the history is 12 -20 bikers die in crashes each year

I lived there for 3 years and found it generally quite safe unless you did idiotic things.
To the OP, sorry I can't help with campground options.

Most of these are self-inflicted. You get hammered and ride, bad things happen.

Guessing that’s booked by now, but I’ll have our reservation guy check. Thanks.

Some folks stay in DIS for the week. Last time I was there for the 200, there were 3 neighbors that brought their HDs down to watch some racing and party. No idea what they paid though. I know the Rider/ Owner lot is not cheap and no sewer hook up.

Same. Have only ever done day trips there, but seems the rider deaths are all too often alcohol related.

As a past MSF instructor, be aware that most car-bike accidents happen at intersections near your own home......., most of them involve riders with limited experience, ages 16 - 24, choppers, performance and sport bikes predominate, and 92% have had no training such as that offered by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. Take a class! Go enjoy the spectacle of amazing custom motorcycles, friendly enthusiasts, great music and people watching that is hard to beat!
As for RV camps, We have stayed in Deland at Tropical Resort but there are RV camps that spring up all over. If you want a hardcore biker experience- try Sopotnicks Cabbage Patch in Samsula.

Have been to Daytona numerous times, also Ruidoso, Sturgis, and live about a mile from Laconia. Daytona is no more dangerous than any other bike week. Just use common sense, know where you are going before you ride out, and keep your eyes and ears open. Same as everywhere else. Also, don't underestimate lightning. Recommend Nova Family Campground over on Herbert St. in Port Orange. Easy access to interstate to go up to destination daytona or, if you follow rte 1 up it will take you there. Also good access to the intercoastal and speedway and close to most everything (including Aunt Catfish on the River).

To be close to all the action and very safe because of constant security, Stay right at the Daytona Speedway in the infield. Just contact the ticket office. They also have very clean restrooms & Showers in the same infield.. Good luck

Cabbage Patch has tent camping There’s also a place across the street for RV Elecrtric/water and the pump you out. Pass years you might be cheaper in a motel/hotel. The crowds have been down.
