Have you camped there before? I've driven by it many, many times on the way to OC and always wondered how it was there. When you look from the bridge it looks crowded but the angle could be deceptive.

We have been in the past. They had closed the park earlier last year and rehabbed everything. This will be our first time there since it was reopened.

Stopped in there to check the place out 2 years ago (probably before the rehab)--it's kind of like being at a tailgate in a stadium lot. There's only a few trees in the place, and it tends to be very windy. The upshot is that it's close to the beach and inlet for fishing, crabbing, etc, and it's very pretty. The new bridge is a marvel to look at, if you're into the structural engineering thing (which I dig stuff like that.) I'll have to stop in and check it out again now that the rehab is done. Have a good time, we're heading to Castaways in 2 weekends!

EDIT: Is that an ASPHALT PAD that your rig is parked on? Nice! Rehab indeed!

Stayed there many times and we love it. This year we'll be on the "new" north side campground. One important thing to remember, don't leave your awning out if you leave the site. Storms come out of nowhere and they are intense. Down the highway south on the right in Bethany Beach is a good restaurant called The Cottage Cafe. Nice place with very good food and family atmosphere. Like most places at the beach, it's pricey. The Fiery "buffalo" fingers are excellent! Great sunsets there. Forgot, Hammerheads is right down the street from you at the marina but I'm not sure if it's open yet. Make a left out of the campground. It's a small place mainly good for happy hour. You could walk there if you wanted.

do you know what happend to that bridge they started to build and tore it down? It was unstable for some reason. They removed it and started over. Try the hiking trails at cape henalopen, they are outstanding. Water only at sites.

Talking Delaware Seashore

We love the area. Tower Beach on the ocean is wonderful. It is part of the De State Park system so you should have free admission. Looked into staying there last year, but we wanted to stay for more than the allowed 2 weeks This year we will be on a seasonal site at Lost Lands... south of Bethany Beach near the DE / MD border. Check out the free entertainment at the Rehoboth Beach bandstand.

We're going Memorial Weekend, North end. Looks nice!

Question for ya, are the sites as close as they look? We prefer more open sites, but couldn't get into Assategue National Seashore this year...first time in, 8 years.

The sites are pretty close. I think the sites on the North side have more space compared to the older sites.

Yes - we like to have fires too, but normally when we are in the area, we are in town or seeing friends so we can do without a camp fire.

EJM4, you say you were on the north side. I'm looking to book a site there for June 5,6,7, but all the north shore sites show no electric online. Clearly your coach is plugged in. Am I missing something here or do I need to call for accurate info?

Thanks

I just looked and they have sites available for those date. When you searched for the site, did you enter your site preference (amp, water, sewer) when you searched?

I did put the electric in as required, and it shows the north shore sites, but when you click on the descriptions it says no hookups. It doesn't help that it shows the sites all in the wrong places and most of the south shore sites are in the water....................... I think I will just call for the reservation and ask for north shore with electric and see what happens.

That's odd. I know I have experienced the same map problem a couple of times. We are headed back down their this weekend.
