Destin, fl

So my "little" one want's to go to the beach during spring break, we saw some interesting parks near Destin, Fl. Does any one have any good info. on the best place to stay, either in or near Destin. This would most likely be her last spring break with us as she is the last one out of the house, we would like it to be a good time for her.

Top Sail State Park is great, but you have to book very early.

Top Sail State Park! Hands down the best park out there. Like cajun said you better book early if you want a specific spot. They do have several walk in spots though.

I consider you very lucky that she wants to be with you for Spring Break. By the time mine hit high school they wanted to be with their friends for Spring Break and not with us. Hope you have a great time.

Never thought of it that way, thanks. We spend A LOT of time together, she is a Fastpitch softball player and we spend all summer/winter traveling the southeast, I think she deserves a great beach vacation.

Just back up the road from Top Sail there is Camp Gulf. Talk about being on the beach..... This is the one my family is attached to. A little difference between the two but if we all liked the same place & same site it would be hard for any of us to get a reservation. They encourage reserving a year in advance but a phone call gets you 1 on 1 with a camp gulf employee looking at actual empty spots & dates. I'm not sure just how accurate reserving online through 2nd party is.

We stayed at Destin RV Resort, which is actually Miramar....easy in and out.....walk across the parking lot and on beach in 3-4 minutes(had their own gate near to restaraunt), beach wasn't overly crowded......Only issue with them is, the park is a little tight when full.......mostly because of the way people parked......otherwise we enjoyed it.....Camp Gulf is only a couple of minutes from there, I think they had slots on the beach.....We also stayed in Emerald Beach RV park at Navarre, FL., it is just 15-20 minutes west of Destin....Really nice park on intercoastal side....takes 2 minutes to drive across bridge and be on the emerald beach.(gulf side)......if anyone wants a good national forest camp ground with trails....try Pine Log National Forest near EROS...about 30 minutes from Destin....the RV camps at the local bases in the area are good, if you have ID card, to get in. West of Navarre about 15-20 minutes is a camping world. Their are a couple of others we have used in the area, that were average...but most of always been exactly what their ad said, none have we had any problems or issues with......Have a good trip....

Thanks for all the input, we were able to book a site for the days we were looking at, the only place that could get us in was Emerald Beach, hope it's nice!

we stayed there a little over a year ago...it was nice and quiet...the intercostal side is what it is...but you can drive about 5 mintues across bridge, the beach access has bathrooms and showers for the gulf side....the only thing at emerald beach RV park was their little beach...it was clean but is on intercostal side...mostly sand they had dumped..but is private...their beach house or bath house was clean and well kept.....the slots were level and clean....the area was fairly easy in and out....not as much traffic as being closer to Harbor walk...depending on time of year if going to Harbor walk or any of the busy areas, leave early...

we went without any kids and wound up having several kids hanging out for a few days...because of the motorcycles...lol..lol.

Hope you have fun....

We just returned from Destin (for the 2nd time). It has become our favorite beach in the US. We stayed at Destin West Resort and loved every single moment of it. The park was friendly, well manicured, great Bay views at many sites. The location is really great...just minutes from Destin or Fort Walton. The Gulf is easy access across the road (we drove across because it is a 4-lane divided highway) and an easy walk to the sand from the parking lot. Beautiful, beautiful beach and water. There were tons of amazing restaurants within a short drive and we are already planning our next trip to Destin...and Destin West Rv Resort. We have a Cardinal and travel with our dog, a border collie named Casey, and she loved swimming in the Bay right behind the Resort. Highly, highly recommend the city of Destin and the Destin West Resosrt!

We stayed at Emerald Beach during Thanksgiving two years ago. Very nice site as we backed up to the beach and had a deck. Short drive to the beach's...I highly recommend. My 23yr old and 11 yr old liked it as well.

We stayed at Camp Gulf this past Labor Day weekend. We were 1 row from beach front which is the 1st row with Full hookups. Great location, nice park, Super friendly staff. Plus you are RIGHT on the beach.

Dewey Destin. They have 2 locations. One is on 98 and is the biggest. We like the other, smaller location on the bay. As you cross the bridge coming east into Destin, take an immediate left. Then turn left down a dirt drive to the restaurant. The best fried shrimp in Destin.
