Dewey Beach, Lewes and Cape Henlopen, DE

I would like to park my RV close to the beach while I am in that area. i will be making trips to Dewey Beach this week and next week. I can't recall the RV parking rules in Dewey but my recollection is that my 24 footer can park in some spots legally.

Looking at maps I see parking lots by the beach in Lewes. From the map I prefer the beaches in Lewes because the parking is right there. I don't know if I can park my RV there or what it costs on a daily basis.

I know I can park at Cape Henlopen State Park although I have not been there, family members have been there. But I am not getting a good answer as to how close to the beach I can park.

Looking for local knowledge and suggestions.

Thanks,

Bobby

Beach parking

We live in bethany beach. Why not stay at the indian rier inlet
.state park. You will be right on the water and short walk to
beach.

We will use your suggestion however some trips will be day trips so we are looking to save a few miles and time on the road (beach town traffic) by being a little closer to home in PA.

I forgot to ask you, what is Bethany like in the cold months? Specially the weather.

it's a ghost town, I use to live 20 minutes away from there, (more inland away from the beach traffic), its cold, windy, and not many stores open.

If you want to stay right on the beach, there's nothing in DE to allow that (that I'm aware of these days). However, the indian river inlet is about the closes you'll get to being on the beach. It's on the inlet with nice views of the water, marina, etc. You'll be about 6 hours (give or take) from the PA border.

Thanks

Thanks for all the help.

We spent a day on the beach at Cape Henlopen state park. Very nice. Easy to park on a weekday. Short walk to the beach and the beach is CLEAN.

Admission was $10 since we are "out of state." I am used to Atlantic City which is a free beach but most other Jersey shore towns charge for beach tags.

For us Atlantic City is more convenient for a day trip but it seems like traffic is heavier each year. Anyway, Cape Henlopen is another option.
