Staying right this very moment at the fort wilderness campground and want to report in that this is hands down the best campground period. Spend the money. Get a premium site and have some serious fun.
Smores at the bin fire are great. Buy the kit at the food truck or bring your own. Rent the golf cart. Ride the horses. Whatever you want. Don't cheap out and stay somewhere else. The amenities and ability to enter park early are worth every penny. How can you put a price on memories. Anyways hope this helps somebody.

Never stayed at ft wilderness but we did walk around the campground 2 trips ago. We own a disney time share so we always stay on property. Many befits to staying on site vrs off site. If you rent a boat you can see parts of the old river country and discovery island. Did you go and see the calliope yet

I can only imagine, we're planning on going in the future with my GS. I think by the time we get there prices will probably would be at least 10 - 20 % higher. But that's the price you pay to play. My time frame is 5-6yrs from now hopefully we'll get to go.

Is it the DVC timeshare you own? If so you can use it to book a site at Fort Wilderness, but be warned it is possible but hard to do we have yet to be lucky but have heard where others have been able to.

Did Fort Wilderness last year, for spring break...

I totally agree - it wasn't cheap, but it was (just like the rest of the Disney experience) worth it.

Immaculate facilities, the bus system is great to get around; and being able top hop a ferry across to the Magic Kingdom? All fantastic!

I'm planning to go again in another 2-3 years; and will be staying there again!

RV travel to Disney is SOOOO much more affordable than flying down and getting a hotel and having to eat out for every meal that we are going for the 2nd year in a row. We leave this Thursday at noon-ish and plan to check into Ft Wilderness Saturday afternoon,

I've heard great things, but cost wise it's just not worth pulling ours down that far....number 6,359 to not live in the North!

I am actually not sure how much it is per night because we have park passes as well. I did not do meal plan and actually don't suggest it. My package was Sunday thru Friday with four people and three day park hopper and I paid about 2200. The fourth day we are heading to universal for about another 400.
The ease of the boat to magic kingdom and Disney buses to all others except universal and that is why we have uber. The bon fire. The pools. All of the kids running around. It is a magical place. The ability to enter park before everyone else. I see no negative here at all. Three years ago before rv we spent more than double that for same trip. I don't care what it costs as long as the kids are smiling. This place is worth every penny and the reason for my post is to share with my fellow rvers that this is an absolute must do. Do not go elsewhere period

I randomly look for different times of year. Last time I looked, it was around $80-$90/nt for Ft. Wilderness.....about $10 less a night than staying at the Value Resorts.

Our rate for the upcoming week is $140 per night. Expensive but well worth it.

Spring Break week is what does it for sure! Probably the most expensive week of the year there.

End of July.
I'm in school most of July, finishing my vocational education degree.

You are not missing much.. We have been there several times in the last 10 years just to try and get our moneys worth out of a piece of property..

The traffic sucks, the parks suck, the people are generally rude and could care less if the run you over or not.. And from what I can tell, many of the kids seem miserable there too. It's a one time trip, maybe twice, just to check it off your list..Then NEVER, NEVER go back.. This is in no way a statement against the campground in general, just the area.

Of course there are things to do OTHER than the parks if you get away a short distance, that's not necessarily bad.. But in general Orlando.. Bad.. Except February, went once in February, much more low keyed then..February Good, Summer Bad.. you couldnt pay me 5 grand to be in that place in the middle of summer.
