Disney FW CG

Hey.

Family of four, two under 5. Headed to Disney for a week. We will be taking our bikes... but everyone says we should rent a golf cart too?

Reasons? Do we need one?

When do you find out your loop number? At check in?

When we went last year we found out our site number when we registered at check in. We didn't have a golf cart. We were in a preferred site, which is convenient to everything.

Bikes are good!! But if it rains then it is BAD!!!! LOL

There is an internal bus service that runs throughout the resort, maybe every 10 to 15 minutes, there 7 or8 bus stops throughout the resort... those can get you to the dock for the water taxi to Magic Kingdom and the Monorail transportation hub... or to the front where you can catch the buses to the other theme parks or to the family pool area, the restaurant at the lake dock!!

We got a cart, but we did not have bikes, if we did I doubt we would have rented one for the week, quite expensive!

We are here now. You will find out your site when you check in. This is our fourth trip here and we have never had a cart. If we owned one we would bring it but I can't justify the cost because you don't have to walk far to get a bus. We have our bikes because we camped before we got here and will be camping somewhere else for a few days when we leave. I unloaded them and I have been the only one to ride one anywhere. Kids have their razor scooters that they have played on around the campground loop.

It's hot but it's hot at home too. Haven't had any rain which is crazy. We always have rain when we are here and today it was 80% chance. Hope that holds out till Thursday when I leave it whenever the op leave a from his trip.

I've never had a loud one. The only noise issue we ever had was years ago when they were running that Petty Nascar Experience which closed in 2015 IIRC. Those cars were loud.

Here is a off site cart rental place that is cheaper then what Disney charges, but you will probably have to meet them off site a short drive from the campground to pick up & return. We used them a few years ago and were very happy with them. If going soon they might already be booked up.

Yes, bring bikes. A golf cart would be great if you had family members who couldn't ride a bike but apparently your under 5's are up for a bike ride? It's really not a bad ride within the cg and there are nice sidewalks.
There are buses that run within the cg to either the dock at one end where boats run to the MK, or to the bus depot at the other end where you can catch other buses to all the other venues. Being able to get to those transportation centers without having to wait for yet another bus is nice. You'll be spending plenty of time waiting in lines and waiting for buses and boats so one less bus...
But if your group includes kids too small to ride their bikes effectively for perhaps a mile you will be well served by renting a cart if you can get one that fits your group.
BTW, summer in DW is for brave stoics. The potential for discomfort and frustration is very high. Consider trying to do at least some things that don't require long wait times, like Philharmagic, or you'll spend an entire day during peak season sweating in lines to do only two or three attractions.

No golf cart for us, they didn't have any available to rent when we went in March as they were all rented out. We used bikes and a kid trailer to haul 3yr old and had plenty of room in trailer to haul goodies back from camping stores etc. Bike paths are great and well maintained. We stayed in 100 loop and was easy walk to water taxi. Couple of people that camp at FW frequently, told us to lock bikes up when you leave them for the day or they might end up borrowed by someone else. When we went to watch movie at the meadow or if we rode to camping store at night we used 300lumen head lamp that straps to your head and that worked well.

Lots or electric scooters running around also.
