Well, we just got back from our adventure at Fort Wilderness/Disney World. Had a truly awesome time with the grandkids. The park was incredibly large, but extremely well kept and clean. For those who haven't been yet...rent the golf cart, trust me. The trip from here in CT was 2800 miles RT, we took the I-84, I-81, I-77, I-26, I-95 route and will do it like that from now on. Took us 26 hours (driving time) plenty of fuel stops, and the best part was there is only one toll (on the return) in NY. We did make a one-night stop in Brunswick, Ga at a CG, before hitting the road the next morning. Our site was in the 1400 loop (1443). Fairly centrally located for what we were looking for. The people there were beyond friendly and had no issues at all, in fact, when we checked out Thursday at 11am, we were told we could leave the camper and truck in the parking lot until midnight and catch a Disney bus wherever we wanted for the day, so we did. Great Place, already talking of going back in a couple years.

Great to hear...it's hard to have a bad time at the Fort!
We're planning some quick trips with just staying at the Fort since there is so much to do at their campground without stepping foot into the parks

Oh for sure. There was sooooo much we didn't see, just at the CG!! Definately deserves a return trip.

Speaking of overnights (on another thread). We stayed at Ft. Chiswell for an overnight stop on our way to Alabama last year. Nice place- easy in, easy out and remarkably quiet from highway noise. Had a pool to wash the day's stink of a drive away (heated though and it was summer; might feel good other parts of the year !).

We stayed with Glenn Jurczyk @ Ft. Chiswell on our way to the Goshen Rally 29Jul and agree, it is easy in, easy out and quiet.

You must! We spent one day at a park and one at the campground, and could easily spend several days never leaving the campground. It's a fun way to get the Disney experience while still feeding the love for camping! We went swimming, fishing, rented little speedboats.

I don't have pictures of it, but we did the campfire/ sing along/ movie one night. SO MUCH FUN! We brought our own s'more fixins (you can buy packs there), brought our own chairs and cooler, and had a blast.
