Do you cancel trips for rain?

We got our 26DBH last Friday and already cancelled our first trip last weekend for rain but booked one this weekend with a 3 night minimum. The forecast has been up and down and I just want to go sooooo badly! Do you guys suck it up and enjoy, or forgo the weekend trips when it's raining?

Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat of day detours us on an RV adventure.
The sound of rain on the roof and slide toppers are very relaxing. I will say it can be a bugger setting up in the rain, but I have a rain jacket and a nice hot shower ails all the chills.
We are hesitant if high winds are in the forecast as that's one scenario we try to avoid.

Depends. Right now we need the rain so badly, I'd probably go. Especially because my trips are usually fishing trips and we need a good cold rain for the fish to finally start biting. Predicted severe weather is a completely different story however. Don't want to be out in the boat or camper during a tornado!

Unless it's a complete wash out that interferes with a purpose, (beach/event) we keep our plans. The rain makes for good sleep and rest if nothing else.

I think that depends.
We look at the forecasting, then decide. We are newbies too.
We went on our last trip in the rain about 2 hours away, set up in drizzle, and just relaxed. The next day was beautiful, but slightly overcast.
We had no intent of "exploring" but basically wanted to just relax and be away from hectic jobs.

A bad day of camping is always better that a good day working or working around the house.
You make payments rain or shine, you need to enjoy it good weather and bad.
Get out there and enjoy the day under your awning if need be.

You cannot predict the weather. Might be rain at home but where you are headed, who knows? Might as well learn to deal with it as, sooner or later it will happen wherever you are.

On our first trip, the bride and I spent a whole day inside the TT because of the cold and the rain. She made a great omelette for breakfast and we had BLT's for lunch and dinner. We did get breaks in the rain to be outside.

Do it on your own terms. It will happen to you on a trip. Best to experience it and know how to live with it. Books, board games and a deck of cards go a long way towards passing time. A good supply of beverages are a premium.

We only change our area, north or south to avoid extreme heat or cold but could care less about a little rain.

It depends. When we had a pop-up camper, we'd leave a trip early if it was going to rain because packing it up wet was bad.

But with our travel trailer, it doesn't bother me. And in fact, on some trips I hope it rains. We're going on a halloween camping trip this coming weekend and the park is going to be packed. I kind of hope if storms and some people cancel.

Every time we tent camped it rained, so we bought a pop up. That way we could sit at the table and play games, read, and cook meals inside if need be. We never ditched a trip for rain. Now, we have a TT and don't cancel for rain. Heck, we have rain most every day in the summer here in Florida. Even now, as we await the hit of Matthew tomorrow, we have the TT ready to camp in when we loose power. We won't move out there until the storm passes, but we have a generator and stayed in it after last months hurricane Hermine. We lost power for two days, but had air conditioning in the camper.

Thank you all so much for your feedback! We didn't have some essentials last weekend so that pushed our decision, but I just did not want to miss out on this weekend.

^^ beat me to it.

With a hybrid or popup I might cancel if we were just doing a weekend, but if we were going for the week I wouldn't cancel. I enjoyed sleeping under the canvas in a light rain - just didn't like packing it up in the rain.

With the TT we don't have to pack wet canvas so a little rain is no problem.

If the forecast is for severe weather, I'd stay home regardless of what we're camping in.

We don't cancel for anything. At our age, we might cancel for some unexpected health problem, but so far, so good.

Think of those times where you see kids jumping in a puddle and enjoy yourself.
