East Coast Oceanfront Campgrounds

We are trying to plan some trips and were wondering what some of your favorite east coast oceanfront campgrounds were. Thanks

We stayed for several days at Myrtle Beach SC State Park. Full hookups, on the beach, store and long walking pier. Oasis in the middle of tourism alley.

We like pirateland in myrtle beach but I also hear great things about ocean lakes. I also hear really good things about camp hatteras and the rodanthe Kia in the Outer banks.

Jolly Roger RV Resort in Marathon Key is our favorite CG. Beverly Beach Camptown used to be, but got too expensive [over $100 a night]

Hunting Island, SC is FABULOUS if you like nature, ocean, sand, lots of shells, fishing, crabbing and that type thing. We LOVE it!

If you like lots of people, lots of shopping, lots of restaurants and fighting for space on the beach to lay your towel, it is not the place for you!! If this is your idea of fun, the Ocean Lakes or Pirateland in Myrtle Beach is for you.

We also like Assateague on the Eastern Shore of Va, but there are limited services.

If you are interested in Canada, Kiwanis Ocean Front Campground in St Andrews, New Brunswick only 25 miles from the US border at Calais Maine. Lovely town.

Beach front campgrounds

I have been trying (finger on the mouse at 8 am) for 2 months to get into Bahia Honda or Long Key. Has anyone every had a campsite here and how in the world did you get it?

Also, my favorite is Huntington Beach State Park south of Myrtle Beach. They have some full hook ups but also have campground wide wifi. Be careful at Hunting Island. Some of the campsites are a loooong walk to the beach.

Reservations for the State Parks in Florida are open for reservations eleven months in advance, I believe at 8am. Winter reservations for the parks in the keys are filled a second later. This time of year they should open up a bit through the summer. Bahia Honda is the most difficult for me to get reservations for in the winter, but I have gotten them. Keep watching and you should be able to get some time in the coming weeks hopefully. Or start working on next winter. But don't be too fussy and pick out several sites to push a button on at the same time.
