Elkhart, Ind Campground Recommendations
I will be picking up our 5th Wheel trailer in the near future at Elkhart, Indiana. The unit was in for repairs and I want to camp out for a couple of days in order to check out all the repairs prior to our final journey back to Virginia. Any recommendations for a reasonably priced campground with full hookups, pet friendly (small dog), and 50 amp service would be deeply appreciated.

Hey Blue.
So how would that work if the factory work is not up to snuff? Can you just drive your camper back to the factory for work? Is there a walk up counter where you can get work done?
I ask because if you do find that the repair was not done correctly. Then what?
My understanding is that the dealer is usually the one to schedule the factory work. Would you still not have to drive home, contact the dealer and have them schedule a return visit?
I know this is a downer, but is this not how it would play out?
Vin.

If you’re looking for a campground near the city of Elkhart you might consider the Elkhart campground. It’s north of Interstate I-80/90 just off county road 4 and offers easy access to the highway. It’s also close to the RV Museum which is well worth a visit. A full hookup site is $40 a night so it might be higher priced than what you’re looking for.
The Elkhart County Fairgrounds that youroo and f1100turbo mentioned is in Goshen, IN and would be a good second choice for a campground in that area.

The dealer is simply the middle man, and in these situations the middle man is cut out of the loop. At least as long as you remain under the care of the factory. I have not heard of anyone coming away from the factory not being satisfied with their RV.

The Fair Grounds are nice.
Even when TURBS is in town. Just keep him on the other side of the camp grounds.

Potato Creek State Park is a very nice place. It's about 30-40 mins west of Elkhart though.

Elkhart, Ind Campground Recommendations
15 mile east of Elkhart is Shipshewana. They have two parks right south of town. 1/4 mile north of HWY 20 on HWY 5. One park is owned by the flea market & auction and on the same ground. The other park is 1/4 south of flea market ground.
If you go north of Shipshewana 4 mile to the T another park on the left side of HWY 5
In Elkhart there is a park one mile east of HWY 19 On CR 4

Not sure but if it is a Prime Time it is likely made just south of Elkhart on HWY 19

South Bend/Elkhart North KOA.
We stayed there last summer. Nice cg - and close to everything. Just be prepared - you'll hear plenty of trains. Didn't bother us and that seemed to be a common thing at several places we stayed.

Although I’ve never stayed there, the campground in Shipshewana that CAT-RN recommended might be a better choice too. Another that I haven’t stayed at the Eby Pines campground in Bristol, IN but it’s a bit pricey.
How soon I forget! I would stay at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds only out of necessity and as a last resort. Everyone seems to have forgotten about all the railroad traffic that passes right by the fairgrounds with unbelievable regularity. Believe me, when those trains sound their horns for the grade crossings in the middle of the night you are gonna know it. I speak the gospel on this one.

South campground in Shipshewana is excellent. Still within town, but quiet. Amish community and excellent shopping/browsing. X2

Yes the south one is nicer. It is private owned. It even has a RV wash pad. The one at the flea market is mostly used on Tuesday & Wednesdays for the flea market booth operators I think. I have stayed at the south one several times but not the flea market one.

PT's repair facility is not located at the plant. It is a separate location all together. It is in Elkhart on Lexington Park Dr.
