Fairfax VA

Working for a week in the fairfax area mid April. Burke lake looks like a popular option. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions or feedback?

Thank you!

I live in Burke. Burke Lake Park is a nice place to stay, in my view. Otherwise, if your military/retired military can you try Ft. Belvoir. My thoughts. Hope that helps. Happy Camping.

When working in Fairfax for a week, I stayed at Bull Run Regional Park. It wasn't a bad commute into my office (Fair Oaks area).

The other park in the area is Lake Fairfax in Reston.

It all depends on where your office/destination actually is. Where are you headed?

Be aware traffic here ranges from miserable to disgraceful, so look into where your job site is when planning your stay. For example, 66 westbound and 95 southbound begin clogging by 3pm generally, which will lengthen your commute and possibly strongly influence your opinion of the area and your fellow drivers.

I can't be much help from the campsite perspective, but PM me for traffic and navigation tips--I've been here way too long and can help you work out a plan that's within your tolerances.

Pohick Bay Regional Park South is also a good spot.

Mike's right- picking a campground that is advantageous to traffic is a make or break deal for NoVa. I'd rather stay at a crappy place with decent commute than a resort with a terrible commute.
