Fall Trip Niagara Falls and Acadia NP Suggestions

We are planning a fall trip, Sept. - Oct., trip to Acadia via Niagara Falls.

Suggestions on CG around Niagara Falls?

Suggestions on CG near Acadia NP?

Any stops there or on our way we shouldn't miss?

We are Glampers more than campers, concrete patio, Wifi and sites with a view?

Thanks in advance, everyone here has been great!

We were in Trenton, Maine last summer and stayed in Narrows Two. Nice campground with large lots.

If you're looking for Niagara Falls, Canada - we love the KOA on Lundy's Lane - we're there 2-3 times a season...

Great facilities, great with the kids, lots of activities. Not exactly private, but sites are big enough.

we stay at NET camping most long weekends. good price, good facilities. 25 min outside of niagara falls. close for us but feels like you are far away.

I think it is $50 for a pull thru.

depends what you want. there is also bissels hideaway and sherkston shores.

We loved Branches of Niagara Campground. If it was a local resort we would visit it every year but we used it while we visited Niagara Falls. About 15-20 drive from the falls. Great little campground.

Be careful of overhead clearances in the Niagara Falls area. I believe there have been previous threads discussing this.

Just beside the KOA on Lundy's Lane in Niagara Falls is Campark Niagara. It is very nice and the sites are a little bigger. home

We stayed a couple of days at the KOA North/Lewiston. Out of the way and lots of shade. Only one day for seeing the Falls so got tickets from campground owner for guided tour. Never would have seen as much if we drove ourselves.
We spent 5 days at the Narrows Two campground at Trenton, MA. Lots of space but no shade and totally poor Wi-Fi. Took the local shuttle into and around Bar Harbor. Sounds like you will miss the prime lobster season.

We stayed at the KOA on Grand Island last August and enjoyed it. They have sites with all the amenities you mentioned and they are only 10 to 15 minutes to the falls. We enjoyed the falls but the highlight of the trip was the jet boat ride up the rapids of the Niagara River. Check it out is was money well spent. What a rush!!

4 Mile Creek ( NY state campground ) is very nice. Only 15-20 minutes from the falls. Only downside is that there is no sewage hookup,, great views--very clean

A little off post---Looking for information concerning Acadia and Cape Breton (Prince Edward Island) area. going up later part of July. Best route from Bangor,ME to Cape Breton ?? and also any hassles during the border crossings (both sides).

US 1 to the border. Terrible road but becomes excellent from the crossing near St. Andrew. Just show passports and say your permanent residence. Very easy. Canada 1 through St. John and on to Moncton. Check out Hopewell Cape of you have time. Then Canada 2 and Canada 104 through Truro crossing the causeway at Port Hawkesbury to Cape Breton Island. Coming back, take a right near Amherst on Canada 16 to the Confederation Bridge to Prince Edward Island. Watch your maps or GPS carefully if going to Cavendish. It's easy to get on country roads.

We stayed at Narrows Too and was very nice.
Make sure you visit both parks. The views from the 2nd park are very nice. Well worth the drive.

We liked Four Mile Creek campground and we would like to go back. We have passports now so we can take day trips across the border

Four Mile Creek is a very nice clean state park. Some sites in the 200 loop will give you a view of Toronto, Canada. Sites are stone with water only. Modern clean restroom/shower facilities. Bonus of staying at 4 mile is your camping pass will get you into Niagara Falls State Park and Fort Niagara State Park which is only about 3 miles from the campground. Also the great village of Lewiston is 8 miles away that has a very good supermarket along with numerous dining options and a great brew pub.

Regarding Bar Harbor, Narrows is a nice campground though their original campground about 3 outside of Bar Harbor is old and out dated. However, being a corporate park expect to pay national chain pricing. This forum has many compliments on Bar Harbor Family CG which is even closer to the neat town of BH than Narrows sister park with over 300 sites reasonably priced. Downside here is they don't take reservations but I've never come across anyone that hasn't gotten a site when they tried.
