Fifth Wheel with Toad!

Today, was traveling I-75, north bound to Atlanta, GA...taking notice of all and any campers on the road when I spot in the south bound lane a Ford 7.3 Crewcab (older model) towing a 30-32' fifth wheel AND a small econo car hitched to the back of the camper!
That was a first for me...fifth wheel with a toad...can't be safe or legal?!

I have seen 3 ups in CA, because it is legal there, I believe some other states as well but not sure which ones. As long as the fifth wheel trailer frame is designed for towing and the recommended limits are not exceeded then it should be safe.

I can't imagine backing up, that must be impossible

I'm in SD. I've never seen a car behind a 5er but I tow a 15' BBQ pit behind mine and there are a TON of people pulling 18+' boats behind them. I live alongside the HWY that leads to the river and on any summer weekend, 95% of the rigs that go by are pulling a boat or jetski behind the camper. Periodically there are TT's doing the same thing and it's legal as long as your under 75'.

I also have seen two trailers being towed. I knew it was legal in some states but was suspicious about those I saw in some other states. Here's a web page with information. I don't know how accurate it is.
