First camping trip 2014

Well this long hard winter is hopefully done. So I made reservations for my first 3 day weekend of camping in the Finger Lakes region of NY for Easter weekend.

We just returned from our first trip this year. We spent a week in FDR State Park in Pine Mountain Ga. It was surprisingly warm in the day and we used the AC.

We have a couple of trips booked but right now it is very cool and wet.
Some of the higher elevations are reporting snow or heavy frost.
Warm weather is a 12 hour drive one way so camping is not an option just yet.

Our first trip isn't until May 9th. Heck, I don't even get the trailer out of storage until this coming Saturday! But, with a month before the first trip, gives plenty of time to de-winterize and get things ready - including the new goodies that should be delivered this week!

I doubt it'll be much warmer there than where I am now. I'm near Niagara Falls NY.

We just came back from our shakedown trip in our new 8312SS. We stayed in the Worthington State Forest ( NJ State Park) in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation area. Absolutely beautiful this early in the season. It got pretty cold and windy, couldn't eat outside... but got our camping fix after a long winter. We had site 56 and were right on the bank of the river. We explored up both sides of the Delaware river on both the NJ and PA sides of the Delaware Water Gap and had a great weekend. The park had about 9 sites occupied in all. Saw a bunch of deer, a couple of skunks, and oh yeah... a black bear. The area has active bear warnings, and we were prepared and careful... went for a walk around the loop after dinner and spotted him about 50 yards away in the brush behind one of the sites.... he gave us a curious glance, and headed off in the opposite direction.

Took a pretty cool panorama pic on iphone.

We got to go on our first trip this year over Spring Break. Cold mornings, windy days and thunderstorms! Cant wait to do it all over again, it was over to fast. Wishing you and yours many fond memories as we have on our outings.

Hey Soxfan, where are headed in the Finger Lakes? Dying to get out there. Will be at Keuka Lake SP in June. I wanted to do Easter Weekend at Robert Treman in Ithaca but the DW vetoed that idea, something about the Easter Bunny and grand daughter! Hah!
